Terms & Conditions

Use of Smith County Released Inmates means acceptance of these terms. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the site.

This privately owned site is not affiliated with Smith County, a sheriff, jail, TDCJ, or another government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers an FCRA-covered service. It is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

Nature of the Service

The site is a private reference that points to Smith County jail and court resources, Texas corrections information, release-notification channels, and outside research tools. It stores no official records and cannot confirm custody, release a person, file a document, or alter a public record.

Acceptable Use Rules

Visitors agree to use the service lawfully and responsibly.

  • Do not stalk, harass, threaten, deceive, or harm another person.
  • Do not attempt unauthorized access or interfere with site operation.
  • Do not use bots, scrapers, or automated extraction without written permission.
  • Do not burden the service or prevent access by others.
  • Do not use information for a prohibited FCRA purpose.

No Consumer Reports

This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and supplies no consumer report, credit report, or background check. Neither it nor an advertising partner provides screening services. Information may not be used for employment decisions, tenant or housing screening, creditworthiness, insurance, licensing, government-benefit eligibility, or any other FCRA-regulated purpose.

External Resources

Links may lead to official release records, sheriff and corrections pages, legal resources, federal locators, and commercial search providers. A link does not endorse the destination. Outside content, terms, privacy practices, prices, security, and uptime remain under the destination owner's control.

Service Provided As Is

The site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that information is accurate, complete, current, secure, uninterrupted, free of errors, or suitable for a particular need. Partner search results may be incomplete. Custody and public-record data can change at any time and are not official statements from a government agency.

Liability Limits

To the fullest extent Texas law allows, the site, its owners, and content partners will not be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the site or an external resource.

User Indemnification

A user agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold the site and its operators harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable legal fees arising from that user's conduct, misuse of information, violation of law, or breach of these terms.

Intellectual Property

Original text, graphics, logos, organization, and code belong to Smith County Released Inmates or the identified content partner. They may not be copied, modified, republished, sold, or distributed without written permission, except where law expressly permits.

Changes and Access

These terms may be revised at any time, and the new version takes effect when posted. Access may be restricted, suspended, or revoked at any time, with or without notice, including for conduct that threatens users, systems, or legal compliance.

Texas Law Controls

Texas law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute must be filed in a court with proper jurisdiction in Texas.

Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected provision will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.
